A/B Testing

LiveBall is the ultimate testing platform, enabling you to quickly test any number and combination of landing pages or paths for any number of traffic sources. From the traffic source management screen, simply check the box next to the paths you’d like to test and click Save.

Paths are automatically weighted as ‘5’ to allocate traffic equally among them, but individual paths can also be weighted lower or higher on a scale of 1-10; this allows you to send more traffic to a control path that has performed well and less traffic to a new path you’re introducing.

Adding a Form in a LiveBall Page

Once you’ve clicked on an editable form on your page, you will be able to choose a form from your library. NOTE: You will need to create a form in your library before choosing a form for the page.

Select a form category and form from the drop-down menus. Your form will appear inside the form editor at the right. You also have the option of changing the button text, replacing the default button with an image, and changing the button alignment.

Then select the form action, options include:

  • Take user to another page in the path
  • Download a file from your fulfillment library
  • Take user to an external link (be sure to start with ‘http://’)
  • Tag the respondent
  • Mark the respondent as converted

After one or more actions are selected, click Save. If you’d like to add advanced rules for the form, the green ‘+ advanced rules’ button will be available after you’ve saved the initial form action(s).

Adding Content to a Path Page

Adding copy, images, downloads and rules to your pages in LiveBall is simply point and click. Click the small pencil icon on the page thumbnail to get started. What else can you do?

The path screen, where you add your pages, has a lot of functionality! Using the screen shot above, here’s a guide to what’s what:

A. To add pages to your path, just click the green ‘+ page’ button.

B. To add content to your page, just click the pencil icon in the lower left-hand area of the page thumbnail. To view the page and see what pages bring traffic into the page, and which pages users flow to, click the magnifying glass icon . To delete the page, click the trash can icon . To designate a page as the initial landing page of the path, click the ‘landing’ tab that hangs off the left side of it, it will turn from dark orange to black. A black tab indicates you have designated a page as the landing page of the path.

C. Use your mouse to drag and drop your pages up, down, in or out. This will help you visually arrange your pages, but doesn’t have an impact on the order respondents see the pages. It is just an organizational tool for you.

D. Every framework has at least one theme. These control elements like color, font type, etc… and other standard page elements. You can change the theme of your path by using the drop down in the upper right-hand area of the path screen, and then hitting the blue icon next to the drop down menu.

E. Use the ‘preview’ button to preview a path exactly the way a respondent will. Preview allows you to fully experience a path, without affecting the path’s results. Just click and preview! Or, proof your path on a single page showing all of your path pages, rules and content. Click the ‘proof’ button.

F. Once you are done previewing, and are ready to take your path live, you can ‘approve’ each individual page using the drop down next to each page. The page thumbnail background will turn green when you approve it.

G. All pages approved? If you are ready to approve the entire path, select ‘Engaged’ in the mode drop down menu. Remember to hit the blue button to save your change. An engaged path is a path ready for traffic.

If you are going to test multiple paths at once, add another path. After your paths are ready, it’s time to create traffic sources to send traffic to a path, or a group of paths you are testing.

Adding Images to a Path Page

Once you’ve clicked on a dynamic image on your page, you will be able to select/edit an image (or Flash) from your library. Just choose the collection and category your image (or Flash) is in from the drop down menus, then select the image and click Save.

Optional image actions (when a user clicks the image) include:

  • Add image ALT tag text.
  • Take user to another page in the path
  • Download a file from your fulfillment library
  • Take user to an external link (be sure to start with ‘http://’)
  • Tag the respondent
  • Mark the respondent as converted
Additional Notes:
  • You will need to upload images/Flash into your library before being able to insert them into a page.
  • Only images and Flash with appropriate specs are shown. If specs of an image are larger than the maximum allotment, then LiveBall’s cropping tool will appear. Drag in place for desired crop.
  • If selecting a Flash file, you must also select a backup .gif or .jpg.
